Barbra Mewborne, owner/director of Project Dance, is certified to teach dance through Dance Masters of America, Dance Educators of America, and Acrobatic Arts.
Barbra began her dance training at the age of two at Bonnie Ardelean Dance Studio in Aurora, IL. She studied ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, contemporary, modern, and acrobatics. At the age of ten she began assisting in classes and continued to do so until graduating from Pope John Paul II Catholic High School in 2013.
After graduating high school, she began teaching dance in Birmingham, AL while going to school at The University of Alabama at Birmingham. Each summer from 2013-2017 she studied at the Dance Masters of America Teachers Training School in Buffalo, New York. In 2017 she graduated from the program and became nationally certified to teach Ballet, Tap, Jazz, and Modern. In April of 2017 she graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a degree in Business Management and a concentration in Business Administration. In May 2017 she opened The Dance Shoppe Madison, in Madison, AL. She formed Project Dance in January of 2018 with the mission of providing all students with equal training and opportunities while instilling a love and respect for the art.
